GTA IV Fan Concept for the Unreal Engine 5

Rockstar Games launched GTA IV and the franchise was critically acclaimed by fans and critics alike. The open-world action genre was steadily growing and GTA IV nailed it with its incredible visuals, CPU-intensive ragdoll physics, and compelling storyline that all made GTA IV one the best games of 2008. Rockstar didn’t end it there as we got many more interesting additions to the mix with some stand-alone DLC storylines such as the Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony which were all tied in at one point or another to GTA IV’s storyline. But GTA V built upon the franchise’s success and overshadowed the old tile, becoming the number one selling Rockstar title to date. While GTA V got to enjoy three generations of platforms on the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One, and coming in the future, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, GTA IV is still trapped on older hardware only getting a release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Rockstar was apparently in the works for a GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption Remaster or Remake but both projects were canned upon the release of GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Remake. It’s speculated that the company was taking a similar direction to GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Remake which was already received pretty poorly. Considering it to be a colossal failure, Rockstar canned the GTA IV remake and set all of its manpower for the upcoming GTA 6, which still doesn’t have a trailer or an announcement date. In the meantime, fans can enjoy what it would be like to play a GTA IV Remaster or Remake, or GTA VI for that matter.  TeaserPlay is a Youtube channel that’s been pretty famous in the GTA gaming community for creating trailers and concept videos for hypothetical video game projects using the visuals and features of the Unreal Engine 5. The latest video upload by TeaserPlay showcases what Liberty City could look like if it got a new game engine, improved textures, geometry, better reflections, and Ray Traced Lighting. The Youtuber showcased Niko Bellic slowly wandering the streets of Liberty City showing what the game could have looked like in both cutscenes and in-game.

This isn’t TeaserPlay’s first project. The Youtuber has been making GTA concept videos for a while now including one that recreated the iconic Cluckin Bell scene where Big Smoke orders his large meal. The Youtuber also created a video imagining what the potential Grand Theft Auto 6 would look like if it were to take place in Vice City. The trailer starts off with a gorgeous view of the skylines of Liberty City and they seem pretty photo-realistic, to say the least. Everything is perfect about the intro with the iconic GTA IV theme playing in the background and the draw distance stretching far and wide with a blueish tinge of fog with the Sun shining brightly. The visuals look straight out of real life but then there are some occasional things that TeaserPlay misses out on. The rooftop in the first few seconds shows an American flag that seems to be not showing any movement which kind of breaks the convincing illusion. The scene then switches to a close-up of a not-so-Niko Bellic-looking character wearing his iconic clothes walking down the brightly lit main city section of Liberty City at night. The sun glistens perfectly over the subway station and trains which looks similar quite similar to Spider-Man Remastered on the PC. Niko goes on with his monologue while we see more rooftops featuring a helipad and helicopter while smoke blows out of the vents. There’s a bit of attention to detail here. The trailer showcases the gorgeous Ray-Traced sunrays at the golden hour. Then the video portrays the underground section of the subway station with some lens flares and gloomy lighting that seem to be akin to the effects used in The Phantom Pain. We then are introduced from the iconic third-person perspective to Niko Bellic walking down the dark neon-lit streets of what is portrayed as Liberty City as rain pours down. But there appear to be no pedestrians or traffic whatsoever. Overall, this trailer looked quite impressive considering the graphical fidelity and features the Unreal Engine has. TeaserPlay put in their fair share of hard work to create this concept trailer. Though there were some flaws here and there like a still American Flag and an uninspiring custom Niko Bellic character model. It’s a big improvement over his former GTA San Andreas concept trailer that did great to showcase the features of Unreal Engine 5 but missed out on the authenticity of the GTA San Andreas Grove Street Families characters and the Cluckin’ Bell setting. The concept trailer looked pretty promising and we hope to see and cover more creations by TeaserPlay as he improves at what he’s doing best.

GTA IV Concept Trailer Looks Great But Where’s the Remake?

These concept videos are pretty entertaining and give us a glimpse of what the future of the GTA Franchise could look like with the upcoming GTA 6 that has no details surrounding it whatsoever on the internet. Unfortunately, Rockstar won’t be making a GTA IV Remake any time soon. Maybe we’ll get to see one in the early 2030s and revisit Liberty City. But it might be possible that we’ll get to see a remade Liberty City in GTA 6 as some insiders claim that GTA 6 will get new cities over time in the form of DLC updates, which Rockstar will focus on once again with the release of the anticipated upcoming title. Even if a proper GTA IV remake never comes to fruition, maybe fans will get to experience Liberty City as an updated version at some point down the line. Liberty City could indeed be a prime candidate as one location in GTA 6. GTA IV is available for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. So what do you think of the GTA IV concept trailer for Unreal Engine 5? Do you think there might be a Liberty City release for GTA 6 in the future? Let us know in the comments below. We upload daily on Appuals so stay tuned for more. Till then, see you later and goodbye.
